Flashback to the ephemeral works of Festival des Architectures Vives 2016

The more than 20,000 visitors wandering through the 2016 Festival des Architectures Vives in Montpellier and La Grande Mott encountered an array of eye-catching temporary installations, whether they were hidden in typically closed-off courtyards in Montpellier or displayed along a promenade in the historical heart of coastal La Grande Motte. Taking place this past June, the yearly festival puts the works of emerging architectural talent in the spotlight for anyone to discover and experience.

The designers of the installations, who hail from France and throughout Europe, were selected after a call for submissions launched last September. As if it weren't already exciting enough to be invited to participate, some projects received distinctions in the Montpellier and La Grande Motte events:
Montpellier:
Public Prize: "In n' Over" by Maxime Derrouch, Typhaine Le Goff and Emeline Marty
Jury Prize: "La tête dans les nuages" by Mickael Martins Afonso and Caroline Escaffre-Faure
Special Mention: "Veinticuatro" by Maria Victoria Cresta, Giovanna Giampetruzzi, Lucas Torres Aguero, Soledad Lanus, and Ariel Marcelo Gurdo.
La Grande Motte:
Public Prize: “Reversible” by Rocío García Samaniego,Teresa Elías Valer,Irene Fernández Garijo,María Pérez Pérez,Israel Martín Herrero,Belen Llanos Pérez,Beatriz Estefania Gutierrez
Jury Prize: “Land Motte” by JN Architectes
Special Mention: “La Grande Frite” by HOCH Studio
Last but not least, university students from the School of Architecture of Toulouse had the chance to contribute this year, while Maurice Schwab designed the 2016 FAV Pavilion.
