Architecture firms throughout the Bay Area sent over 200 submissions of their best projects around the world to the competitive AIA San Francisco Design Awards program. Out of those 200, only 19 were announced as winners in the Herbst Theatre at the San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center last Thursday.
Winners were selected in the main categories of Architecture and Interior Architecture ranking in Honor, Merit, and Citation (no Unbuilt Design winners were selected this time). This year's jury also awarded Special Commendations in Historic Preservation, Rainwater Collection + Recycling, and Social Responsibility. Some of the winning designers include David Baker Architects, Aidlin Darling Design, Field Architecture, Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects, SOM, and more.

The 2018 AIASF Design Awards program was juried in Boston, in partnership with the Boston Society of Architects. This year’s jury included: Jeffry Burchard, AIA, Machado Silvetti; Jean Carroon, FAIA, Goody Clancy; Alex Diaz, NADAAA; Sara Elsa-Beech, Baker Design Group; BréAnna Romulus, DREAM Collaborative.
