Representing over 20 countries, more than 80 contributors were announced for the 2019 edition of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, which will open to the public starting September 19 through January 5, 2020. Titled “...and other such stories”, the biennial will exhibit projects that “represent the diversity of thinking on architecture and spatial practice globally,” says 2019 CAB Artistic Director Yesomi Umolu, with an emphasis on dialogue, research, and education.
The 2019 exhibition contributors are a noteworthy group of architects, artists, researchers, and social movements, who will all develop new projects that ask pressing questions about the state of architecture in Chicago's communities and across the globe. Several of the contributors will also create their work in collaboration with local communities in Chicago and elsewhere.
Contributors were selected by the Biennial's curatorial team, which includes Umolu and co-curators Sepake Angiama (a curator whose work focuses on education) and Paulo Tavares (a Brazil-based architect and academic).
