Reset: Towards a New Commons

"The Center for Architecture and an expert jury will select up to three teams to envision new dynamics of living and community that challenge urban trends towards ever-increasing isolation. The selected teams will exhibit their work in 2022 as part of Reset: Towards a New Commons, an exhibition analyzing architecture’s role in envisioning new dynamics of living and community. This call requires interdisciplinary teams, comprised of social scientists and designers."

IMPACTxDESIGN

"NYCxDESIGN is proud to present IMPACTxDESIGN; A new design competition in partnership with Caesarstone to showcase how design can enhance public space and foster engagement. Selected in collaboration with the Design Trust for Public Space, Dumbo Brooklyn and Downtown Manhattan, two historic neighborhoods and city-centers for the arts and commerce, have been identified as locations for design installations that will help bring people together and connect starting this fall. The program will offer two winning designers the chance to make their mark on the city’s landscape and gain invaluable exposure."

2021 Canadian Off-Site Construction Student Design Competition

Submission Deadline: Sunday, Jun 6, 2021
"We would like to invite you to participate in the first annual Canadian Off-site Construction Student Design Competition. The competition is intended to spark student interest and showcase Canadian student design innovation in modular, prefabricated, panelized, and other types of off-site construction. The competition is presented by the University of New Brunswick’s Off-Site Construction Research Centre (OCRC), founded by OSCO Construction Company is a research group that is dedicated to optimizing alternate solutions to on-site construction. The competition is presented in partnership with the Modular Building Institute (MBI)."

Student Ideas Competition at the Chicago Architecture Biennial
Register/Submit Deadline: Friday, May 7, 2021
"CAB's 5th Student Ideas Competition is accepting submissions from 7th-12th grade Chicagoland students through May 7, 2021. Since 2015, CAB's Student Ideas Competition has encouraged middle and high school students to explore how design can play a role in creating shared spaces and improving communities. The Spring 2021 prompt—inspired by The Available City led by Artistic Director David Brown—asks young people to look to the needs of local communities as they imagine new uses for existing city sites or infrastructure."
