This year’s AIA|LA Design Awards winners have been announced via a special ceremony held last week at the landmark Los Angeles Theater downtown. Under the theme ‘RE,’ the chapter’s event provided a unique opportunity for attendees to “Reflect, Rewind, Reconsider, and Rejoice in the transformative power of architecture.”
A total of 39 projects were recognized in both build and unbuilt categories. The AIA|LA says these projects best represent their organizational values of equity, diversity, inclusivity, community, and sustainability while also exemplifying the industry’s proactive fight against climate change.
They were joined by the late Gold Medal winner, Jenkins/Gales & Martinez, Inc. founder Earl E. Gales Jr., whose contributions to the career development of minority architects and the local built environment were enshrined as one that created positive outcomes for thousands of Angelenos. The chapter shared: “The 2023 AIA|LA Design Awards celebrated architectural achievements and highlighted the industry's commitment to shaping a more inclusive, sustainable, and inspiring future.”
