Fragile Eco Generative Architectures – Raffaella Laezza

| 16 West 61st Street, 11th Floor Auditorium
New York, NY, USRelated
The design method of Eco Generative Architecture investigates the foundational role of the ECO nature-architecture relationship: both from the very first design steps to set up the operational processes for socially responsible projects at various scales. The project grows as a living being understood from its DNA and in its life cycle. For this reason, the internal principles of nature must be correlated with architectural principles.
GENERATIVE 0+7 Process steps:
0 Nature's genetic geometric code: Macro_ground line, landscape; Micro_vegetal, mineral structures observed through digital microscope. Trans_naturality process: translating nature's rules into architectural rules: generative algorithms, Euclidean, vector geometries.
1 Structure - Construction principle
2 Enter - Spatial principle
3 Skin - Climatic principle
4 Matter - Material principle
5 Module - Modular principle
6 Re-time - Recycling principle
7 CO₂ Check-up - Carbon Neutrality
The experimental research originated at IUAV after the ‘CRASH’ encounter with Peter Eisenman.

Speaker Bio : Raffaella Laezza, Italian architect and PhD in Architectural Composition at IUAV University of Venice where she studied with Manfredo Tafuri, Peter Eisenman and was assistant to Franco Purini. She is the scientific head and adjunct professor at the second level master's degree ‘Emergency Circular Temporary Architecture’ at IUAV. She has taught at Parma University of Architecture, Padua ICEA, Hanyang Postgraduate School of Architecture of Seoul, South Korea. As radical designer has realized experimental temporary architectures, to which she applies the method she theorized, Eco-Generative Architecture, for carbon-neutral architecture. She has participated in the Venice Architecture Biennale and many international competitions. She is an essayist. For the publisher LetteraVentidue: “Nature of Architecture 1-7. Notebooks for a Theory of Architecture”, Volumes 1-7, 2025; “Crash.Peter Eisenman IUAV Venice 1986-87”,2023; “Leonardo da Vinci Architect.
