Curious about which top-notch architectural history publications to check out? Perhaps you'd like to look into the winning titles of the 2019 Society of Architectural Historians' Publication and Film and Video Awards. As its name states, the yearly Publication Awards honor the best published narratives on architectural history, urban history, landscape history, and historic preservation scholarship, as well as architectural exhibition catalogues. The Film and Video award program distinguishes outstanding works of film and video on the history of the built environment, with no geographic or political boundaries limiting subject matter or production team. Recipients were presented with their awards during a ceremony at the SAH's 72nd Annual International Conference in Providence, R.I. on April 25.

Named for SAH past president and landscape historian Elisabeth MacDougall, the award honors the late historian's role in developing this field of study.
↓ Founders’ Award - established in 1970, the Founders’ Award recognizes an article published by an emerging scholar in the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians that exhibits excellence of scholarship and presentation.
↓ SAH Award for Film and Video - recognizes the most distinguished work of film or video on the history of the built environment. The most important criterion is the work’s contribution to the understanding of the built environment, defined either as deepening that understanding or as bringing that understanding to new audiences.
