2021 Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship
Register/Submit Deadline: Friday, May 28, 2021
"The RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship offers £7,000 to a student of architecture who demonstrates the potential for outstanding achievement and original thinking on issues that relate to the sustainable survival of cities and towns. In 2021, in response to the global restrictions on travel put in place to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, applications will be accepted for national research proposals as well as international research proposals. Therefore, students may submit a proposal for research on a topic in their home country or at (an) international location(s)."

CBDX: BORDERLANDS
Register/Submit Deadline: Monday, Jun 21, 2021
"This international design ideas competition—the second in the CBDX Series—asks, How can designers intervene in borders? What logics of territory are necessary to mediate between areas on either side of a divide? Is it about 'or'? Perhaps 'and'? Perhaps neither? Perhaps both? And as advancements in technology further shorten distances and render immaterial previous restrictions across space, What even is the future of borders? How do we design borderlands? Thus, this competition asks entrants to consider the opportunities, challenges, and complexities latent within borders and propose new paradigms of operation and entropy."

Thanks to a donation from Daniel Grataloup, the Prix de Genève will stimulate experimentation and innovation for the architecture of tomorrow. So if you went to IIT (Chicago) you can apply but if you went to UIC (also Chicago) you can't. Just open it up to anyone.
