Jean Nouvel’s new design for the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain will be previewed in Venice this spring as part of a new exhibition taking place at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini. There, a number of different kinds of media–including projections, 1:1 scale photographs, plans, and prototypes—displaying his vision for the transformation of a Haussmann-era building next door to his 1994 design will impart on visitors an understanding of such spaces as "cultural environments in and of themselves."

The exhibition’s organizers say its scenography "demonstrates in particular the effects of the retractable ceilings that temper natural light, as well as those of the mechanical guard rails which add or subtract possible perspectives on the immediate urban surroundings."
The dates for the exhibition are May 10th to September 14th, 2025. We covered the original announcement of the project in September when its anticipated opening date on the Place du Palais-Royal was announced for later this year.
