2018 Prize Bridge Award winners announced by National Steel Bridge Alliance

The National Steel Bridge Alliance (NSBA) has awarded 17 projects for the 2018 Prize Bridge Awards. Winners are chosen based on their significant innovation in U.S. steel bridge design and engineering. Awards were given in 9 categories of various bridge types including: Major Span, Long Span, Medium Span, Short Span, Moveable Span, Reconstructed Bridge, Special Purpose, Integrated Project Delivery and Technological Advancement. Commendations were also given to projects that best exemplified accelerated bridge construction (ABC) and sustainability.
National Award winners:
- Major Span: Sellwood Bridge, Portland, OR
- Long Span: Greenfield Arch Bridge, Pittsburgh, PA
- Medium Span: Colville River Nigliq Bridge, Nuiqsut, AK
- Short Span: US Route 340, Waynesboro, VA
- Moveable Bridge: Gut Bridge, South Bristol, ME
- Reconstructed Bridge: RFK Bridge Manhattan Approach Ramps, NYC
- Special Purpose: Peter Courtney Minto Island Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge, Salem, OR
Special Award winners:
- Integrated Project Delivery: Rouchleau Mine Bridge, Virginia, MN
- Technological Advancement: Folded Steel Plate Girder Bridge, Muskingum County, OH
Merit Award winners:
- Major Span: Hulton Bridge, Pittsburgh, PA
- Medium Span: Sewalls Falls Bridge, Concord, NH
- Short Span: Broadway Avenue Bridge, Boise, ID
- Moveable: Fort Street Bridge, Detroit, MI
- Reconstructed: BNSF Railway Company, Bridge 482.1, West Memphis, AR
- Special Purpose: Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Moose Run Golf Course, Anchorage, AK
The Sustainability Commendation was given to the Neponset River Greenway in Milton, MA. and the Accelerated Bridge Construction Commendation was given to the Mario Cuomo Bridge, Tarrytown, NY.
